Since the 16 and Pregnant: Life After Labor show, my family situation has changed a bit. I'm taking on more parental responsibilities myself, trying to do a lot of work, worrying about insurance and my education, but yet still trying to be my age, which doesn't always seem to be possible.
I would say what I like best about being a teen mom is that I'm still young and can relate more with Sophia. I think it will definitely help as she gets older -- I'm going to be a cool mom :)
The biggest challenge I think I face is a combination between my work schedule -- because of how timely it can be -- and my personal situation (i.e. dating and being a mom). It puts a lot of stress on everything so I sometimes wonder if it's even worth it.
And for those of you who are wondering, I didn't miss out on the Miss America Pageant for Ms. Teen Iowa after all. Their rules state that you cannot participate if you have a child, but the way I see it, their organization is here to help and support young women's dreams, so it shouldn't matter whether or not I have a daughter.
In the end, I did participate in the pageant, I just didn't let it be known I had a child. And I ended up scoring 9th place! To me, that says you shouldn't let anything (or anyone) stop you from achieving what you want out of life, or telling what you deserve to earn.
